My Son Lost a Front Tooth

This Saturday, my seven year-old son lost his first front tooth. He looks like a friendly jack-o-lantern -- it's quite a hoot! And, he was very excited with his visit from the Tooth Fairy.

I don't want to brag, but I was very happy with the results I got using my own products - both the Tooth Fairy letters and Tooth Fairy certificates. I opened up the Tooth Fairy letter book, copied and pasted one of the letters into Word, and made some quick edits for my son. I quickly changed the font to look like handwriting and added some clipart. Voila! A personalized letter. I also used the "What a Brave Kid" certificate. He was ecstatic when he woke up in the morning.

Enough of tooting my own horn (and putting in a subtle pitch). Enjoy the times with your kids!

Some Exciting News from My Parent Magic

When the Tooth Fairy Forgets

A couple of weeks ago, my daughter had a tooth pulled at the dentist. We had known about this for quite some time, but for some reason, the Tooth Fairy didn't come that night. My daughter, who is almost 10, was concerned about this, and a little curious as to why the Tooth Fairy didn't show up.

She asked us if this had ever happened to us. "Of course it has," we answered. My wife said, "When I was a kid, the Tooth Fairy missed my house once, but came back the next night." And I responded that the Tooth Fairy always comes back if there was a little mistake.

Well, sure enough, the Tooth Fairy came back that night and left the following letter:

Wow Marissa,

I’m really sorry I didn’t get to you last night, but you wouldn’t believe what happened...

With all the kids in Massachusetts on vacation this week, a lot of parents thought this was a good time to get some teeth pulled (I think your dentist calls them “wiggles”). With all my regular pick-ups and these “wiggles,” I was even busier than the bees are going to be in a couple of weeks when the flowers come out.

Well, as the night wore on, my tooth bag got heavier and heavier because the pulled teeth are so much bigger than the ones that just fall out (or get pulled out with string). And, to top it all off, it started to rain really hard.

So my bag got soaked with water, and with all those big teeth, I couldn’t fly any more. I was just bouncing along – fly a couple feet, hit the ground, fly a couple feet, and so on. It was very un-Fairy like. Luckily, I knew a family of field mice over in Gardner that let me dry off and spend the night. But, almost half of my pick-ups from last night didn’t happen.

Long story short, I’m here a day late, but I’m a dollar long (I’m giving you a little extra for the delay).

P.S. I’m working on a new Fairy-mobile so that I can handle the rain and extra teeth for next year. I don’t think you’ll have to wait again!

The Tooth Fairy also left a great Tooth Fairy certificate that was titled "Oooops" and was enjoyed greatly by my daughter.

My daughter was elated and we were certainly very happy the Tooth Fairy was OK. And, if this ever happens to your son or daughter, you can feel free to tell them about what happened to my daughter.

For the Tooth Fairy Sculpters Out There

I found a great page - called Marlies' Creative Universe - where someone explains how they made a couple of very cute little Tooth Fairy sculptures, complete with a tooth throne.

This page comes complete with some very good pictures and explanations to guide you in creating your own little Tooth Fairy "statue" from molding clay. This is a bit beyond my creative skills (I'm more of a writer than an artist), but with the pictures and instructions, I'd be tempted to try it out.

A Fun-Filled Tooth Fairy Site

I found a great Tooth Fairy site sponsored by a dentist! The Cunning Dental Group of Montclair, CA offers a Fun-n-Games page on their web site that has Tooth Fairy poems, mazes, stories, crossword puzzles, activities, and clip art.

This is one of the coolest Tooth Fairy sites I've found on the Internet, all brought to you by one of the Tooth Fairy's best helpers - the dentist.

I just found a great site where kids can email the tooth fairy. Check out the Colgate-Palmolive Kids World Tooth Fairy page. Here, with their parents permission, children can send an email to the Tooth Fairy and receive an email back from the Tooth Fairy the next day.

What a great idea!

I've Launched a New Web Site

Although this isn't specific to the Tooth Fairy, I've launched a brand new site called Scrapbooking Buzz at www.ScrapbookingBuzz.com. My wife has always been into scrapbooking and she has been instrumental in the development of this new scrapbooking resource.

Michele (my wife) has compiled a bunch of different scrapbooking tips and techniques for the site, and I've also pulled in some RSS feeds on scrapbooking. Plus, at the site, you can sign up for the Scrapbooking Buzz, a weekly tips newsletters. A Great Free Tooth Fairy Project

Here's a link to a page that shows you how to sew a tooth fairy pillow. A tooth fairy pillow is a great keepsake your child can use to put their teeth in under their pillow to await the Tooth Fairy's visit.

Plus, it makes it easier for the Tooth Fairy to get the tooth because it's not wandering around loose under their pillow - it's safely tucked in the Tooth Fairy pillow's pocket.
